Freya Davies Bio & More

Freya Ruth Davies is an English cricketer who plays for Sussex, South East Stars, Welsh Fire and England as a right-arm fast-medium bowler. He was born on 27 October 1995 in Chichester, West Sussex. He made his debut for Sussex in 2009 at the age of 14, and made his debut for England in 2018.

When Davis was an 8-year-old child, both her father and her older brother Jack played for the family’s local cricket club, Chichester. At the age of 10, Davis decided to get involved and played his first hard-ball game with the Jacks’ under-11 team. Davis was attracted to fast bowling because “it looked the coolest”; At 12, she was tall for her age, which helped a lot. Eventually, she joined the Sussex junior ranks at the age of 12.

Freya Ruth Davies attended Chichester High School for Girls, Brighton College and the University of Exeter.

Davies made his county debut for Sussex against Middlesex in 2011. She took her first wicket two days later in her third match, dismissing then-England captain Charlotte Edwards, heartily grateful to a catch by Sarah Taylor, which she later described as “unbelievable”. Davies soon became a promising player in the Sussex team, and was part of their team in three title wins: the 2014 Women’s County Championship and the 2011 and 2016 T20 Cups. In the 2020 Women’s Twenty20 Cup, Davies was Sussex’s leading wicket-taker with 9 wickets at an average of 14.6
