Christopher Roger Woakes is an overseas Englandi cricketer who plays at international and national level for England in all formats. This cricketer was born (born on 2 March 1989) in Birmingham, England. In his national level cricket, Roger represents Warwickshire, and has played in several Twenty20 leagues. The league consists of Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League.

Woakes made his One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) debuts in 2012, and his Test debut in 2014. He was part of the England teams that won the 2018 Cricket World Cup and 2021T20 World Cup.

Roger plays as a right-arm all-rounder and bowls at medium pace.

Christopher Roger Woakeshas was born in March 1989 in England, attended Barr Beacon Language College in Walsall from 2001 to 2006. He started playing cricket at the age of 8 with Four Oaks Saints Cricket Club. He played three games for Herefordshire County Cricket Club in the 2005 Minor Counties Trophy, and played for Warwickshire’s under-15, under-17, academy and second XI teams between 2004 and 2008. Christopher Roger Woakeshas was a regular member of the Warwickshire First XI in 2007. He took 44 wickets at an average of 21.57 runs per wicket during the County Championship season, topping Warwickshire’s bowling averages.

On 7 April 2011 Woakes was called up to the England Lions squad. Woakes made his Lions debut against the West Indies, taking 7/44 in the first innings of the match. During the same season he scored 132 not out against Hampshire, his maiden first-class century, batting at number nine and sharing a 223-run partnership with Jonathan Trott.

Woakes took his 201th first-class wicket in July 2013 in Warwickshire’s victory over Sussex in the County Championship.

In the 2018 Indian Premier League auction, Woakes was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders. He took 18 wickets in 14 matches with best figures of 3/6. In the 2018 IPL auction, he was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore. He played five matches in the 2019 IPL and took eight wickets. He was released by RCB ahead of the 2019 IPL auction, where he went unsold.

In the 2020 IPL auction, he was bought by the Delhi Capitals ahead of the 2020 Indian Premier League, and was ruled out of the tournament. Chris Woakes has withdrawn from IPL 2021 to keep himself fresh for the England Test season. He was retained by Delhi for the 2022 season. Woakes made his Delhi Capitals debut in Match 2 of IPL 2020 against CSK.

In April 2021, he was bought by Birmingham Phoenix for the 2021 season of The Hundred.
