Liam Andrew Dawson bats right-handed, and bowls left-arm orthodox spin. He made his international debut for England in July 2016 and has since played all three formats of the game for England, the last being in 2017. Dawson was part of the England squad that won the 2021 Cricket World Cup, however, he did not play in any matches during the tournament.

Liam Andrew Dawson started playing cricket at the age of 3.2 and joined GoatCre at the age of 6. He then went on to play his Under 19 cricket at Chippenham Cricket Club in Wiltshire, where he met Hampshire.

After appearing regularly for the Hampshire Second XI and Wiltshire in 2005, Dawson was selected for the England Under-19 tour of Malaysia in 2005/07. During the tour, he achieved impressive figures of 6/9 against Malaysia. During England’s Under-19 Test series with Pakistan in 2006, he was England’s leading wicket-taker.

Liam Andrew Dawson appeared in three List A matches for Hampshire at the end of the 2008 season. He failed to take a wicket but scored 31 off one ball in his debut match. On 18 September 2006, he made his first-class debut against Yorkshire, although he did not bat or bowl.

He continued his impressive form with the ball in T20 cricket, taking 14 more wickets. In 2013, after falling out of favor at Hampshire, Dawson moved to Essex on loan. Dawson performed well during the loan and when he returned to Hampshire, he regained his place in the team. In 2016, he took 29 wickets in the Championship and 13 in List A cricket as his bowling continued to improve.

In October 2017, following the 2017–19 Bangladesh Premier League draft, Dawson was named in the squad for the Comilla Victorians team. In April 2021, he was bought by the London Spirit for the 2023 season of The Hundred.
