Joseph Edward Root was born on 30 December 1990 in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. Root belongs to a sports family, his father Helen Root used to play cricket for the England domestic team. Apart from this, Joe’s brother Billy Root has also played cricket for the Glamorgan team. Root followed in his father’s footsteps and started playing cricket.
He attended King Ecgbert School in Sheffield where he honed his cricketing skills. After that, he started playing domestic cricket. He made his debut for the Yorkshire team on 18 July 2007 against Derbyshire team at Abbeydale Park. Later Root was selected for the England’s Squad for the 2010 Under-19 Cricket World Cup which was held in New Zealand.
Due to his aggressive batting in Domestic cricket and the Under19 World Cup, he was noticed by the England Selectors and Got Chance to play for England Team. Joe made his Test Debut for England on 13 December 2012 against India Team. Root made his T20 Debut for England team on 22 December 2022 against India. Later he made his One Day International (ODI) debut for England Team on 11 January 2011 against India.
In the 2023 Ipl Auction Joe Root was bought by the Rajasthan Royals at the price of 1 Crore Rs for the 2023 Indian Premier League Tournament. He made his Ipl Debut for Rajasthan Royals on 7 May 2023 against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
