Kartikeya made his List-A debut on 26th September 2018 for Madhya Pradesh against Saurashtra team in the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Kartikeya made his first-class debut for Madhya Pradesh on the 28 November 2018 against Kerala at Thumba in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy. After that He made his Twenty20 debut for Madhya Pradesh on the 2 March 2019 against Sikkim in the 2018-19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Due to his Good Performance in domestic He got chance to play in Ipl. In 2022 He was piched by the Mumbai Indians in the middle 2022 season at the price 20 Lakhs Rs for the replacement of Arshad Khan due to his Injury. In 2023 Ipl auction Kumar Kartikeya was retained by the Mumbai Indians at the same price 20 Lakhs rs for the 2023 Indian premier league tournament.
