He had a keen interest in playing cricket since childhood. Shahbaz used to play cricket with his father and his uncle Farooq Ahmed from the age of three. He was very good in cricket since childhood, it was very difficult to get him out early in the field. He grew up playing cricket in Mewat. But due to lack of cricket facilities in Mewat, his family shifted to Palwal, Haryana.
He went to pulwal to pursue a professional career in cricket. Shahbaz played various domestic matches for Gurgaon but did not get a place in the Haryana cricket team, after which he shifted to Bengal in 2015 for better cricket opportunities. Because of his ability He has been included in the Bengal cricket team and now he represents Bengal in domestic matches. He started his cricket career as batsman and medium pacer. He started playing league cricket for Cricket association of Bangal (CAB).
On 14 december 2018, Shahbaz ahmed made his first class cricket debut for Bangal in Ranji trophy against Hyderabad at hydrabad cricket stadium. Next year He was selected to play for India “A” in Deodhar trophy 2019. His impressive domestic performances caught the attention of the RCB selectors and he was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 20 lakh in the 2020 Indian Premier League.
Shahbaz Ahmed is representing RCB in IPL since 2020. After performing brilliantly in IPL and domestic, he got a chance to play in the Indian national cricket team. On 9 December 2022 he made his Oneday International debut for India Against South Africa.
