Kevin who taught his sons the basic of cricket, unfortunately passed away in 2012 after suffering a heart attack. Later, former english cricketer and family friend Alec Stewart persuaded the currans to relocate them to Surrey.

At the Under-15, Under-17, and Under-19 levels, Tom Curran played for the South African first-class cricket team KwaZulu-Natal Inland. Later, at the age of 17, he grabbed five wickets in his second game against Kent while playing for Surrey Xl’s second team. He started attending Wellington school in 2012 after the passing of his father.
He made his First-Class debut against Cambridge MCCU on April 1st, 2014, in Cambridge. In the first inning, he was out for nothing, and in the second, he was not given the opportunity to bat. However, he excelled in bowling, as evidenced by the fact that he eliminated three people from the game.
On May 16, 2014, in a T20 match against Sussex, he made his debut.
On June 23, 2017, he played in a T20 match at Taunton against South Africa, making his international debut at the age of 22.
Sam and Tom Curran each got ten wickets in the County Cricket Championship match at The Oval in 2015 against Northamptonshire. In the same game in October 2018, both of them had represented England. The final brothers to represent England were Ben and Adam Hellioake in 1999.
