Chetan Sakariya is an Indain International cricketer who plays for Indian National cricket team as a Bowler and he is a Left arm medium fast bowler and left handed batsman. Currently Chetan is playing for Saurastra team in domestic cricket and Delhi Capitals in Indian premier league tournament. Chetan made his International debut for Indian national team in 2021 against Shri lanka. Chetan is playing all three formets of domestic cricket for Saurastra as a bowler.
Chetan Sakariya was born on 28 February 1998 in Vartej, Bhavnagar, Gujrat, India in vey poor Gujarati family. Chetan father Kanji Sakariya used to drive tempo to fulfill the needs of the family. Sakariya had a great passion for playing cricket since childhood and wanted to become a famous professional cricketer when he grew up but his father wanted Him to become an engineer. However, apart from playing he was as well as very good in studies, thats the reason his father wanted him to become an engineer.
During Chetan’s school days, he used to play cricket for his school’s team with boys and he represent his school cricket team at different levels. One day Chetan was playing for his school cricket team at a district tournament when Sakariya caught the attention of coach Rajendra Goyal who is one of the coaches of a well-known cricket academy in his city. Seeing his interest in cricket and bowling skills, he was impressed by his skills and order him to join his cricket academy where he can more shine his bowling skills.
After that He started playing cricket for Saurastra junior cricket team. Later Chetan got the chance to play for Saurashtra under 19s team. After that He started playing senior domesticc ricket for Saurastra team. Chetan made his List “A” debut for Saurastra team on 22 February 2018, against Baroda team in the 2017-18 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Later He made his First Class Debut for Saurastra team against Gujarat on 20 November 2018 in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy.
He made his Twenty20 debut for Saurashtra against Railways on 21 February 2019 in the 2018-19 Syes Mushtaq Ali Trophy. With his good performence in domestic he caught the attention of IPL Selecters abnd got chance to play in ipl tournament. In February 2021 ipl auction Chetan bought the by the Rajasthan Royals for 1.2 crores Rs. Ahead of 2021 indian premier league tournament. Chetan made his ipl debut for Rajathan Royals against Punjab Kings on 12 April 2021.
In the same year he got chance to play for Indian national cricket team. Chetan made his Oneday International debut (ODI) for Indian national cricket team Against Shri Lanka on 23 July 2021. He made his T20 international debut for India team against Sri Lanka on 28 July 2021.
In February 2022ipl auction, Sakariya was bought by the Delhi Capitals for the 2022 Indian Premier League tournament at the price 4.20 Crores Rs. In 2023 ipl auction Delhi Capitals retained Chetan Sakariya for price 4.20 Cr. Rs for 2023 indian premier league tournament.
