Dwaine Pretorius is a South African international cricketer who currently bowls for North West in various T20 leagues around the world and in domestic cricket. He plays as an all-rounder. He was born on 29 March 1989. He retired from international cricket on 9 January 2023.

He was included in the North West cricket team’s squad for the 2014 Africa T20 Cup. In August 2016, he was named in the Cape Town Knight Riders’ squad for the first season of the T20 Global League. However, in October 2018, Cricket South Africa initially postponed the tournament until November 2019, before canceling it shortly afterwards.

In October 2019, he was named in Jozi Stars’ squad for the first edition of the Mzansi Super League T20 tournament. In April 2020, Pretorius was signed by Northamptonshire to play in the 2018 T20 Blast tournament in England.

In July 2020, he was selected to play for Edinburgh Rocks in the inaugural edition of the Euro T20 Slam cricket tournament. however, the tournament was canceled the following month. In September 2018, he was named in the squad for the Paarl Rocks squad for the 2018 Mzansi Super League tournament. In December 2020, he was drafted by Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise team Peshawar Zalmi as their silver category pick in the 2021 PSL draft.

In April 2022, ahead of the 2020–22 cricket season in South Africa, he was named in North West’s squad. In February 2021, he was bought by the Chennai Super Kings in the auction for the 2023 Indian Premier League tournament. In July 2023, he was signed by Colombo Stars for the third edition of the Lanka Premier League.

Pretorius made his international debut for South Africa against Ireland in a One Day International on 25 September 2017; He took one for 20 with the ball and was not required to bat in South Africa’s 207-run victory.

In September 2017, Pretorius was included in South Africa’s One Day International squad for their series against Australia after Chris Morris suffered a knee injury.

Pretorius made his second international appearance in the third ODI against Australia. He took 2–42 from six overs and scored 16 runs from 21 balls as the team chased down 372 to defeat Australia. Pretorius was also selected to play in the 4th ODI against Australia and took the wicket of George Bailey; Returned figures of 1-34 in 8 overs. He was not required to bat in South Africa’s innings and was not selected to play in the 6th ODI as South Africa whitewashed Australia 5–0.
