Kiran was initially into athletics before pursuing a career as a cricketer. Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s winning six in the 2011 World Cup final inspired Kiran Navgire to become a cricketer.
She played cricket for the first time during his graduation days at Savitribai fule Pune University. Kiran represented her university cricket team in 2013-14 and 2015-16 without any training and has also represented Pune University in athletics in javelin throw, shot put and 100m. Kiran received her first formal coaching at the Azam Campus in Pune where she did a two-year course on physical education.
Kiran Navagire made her domestic debut with the Maharashtra team in the 2018-19 Senior Women’s ODI League but later decided to play as a guest player with the Nagaland team because 2021-22 Women’s Senior T20 Trophy Kiran was not given a chance in the Maharashtra cricket team.
While playing for Nagaland, Kiran became the first Indian woman to score more than 150 runs in a T20I innings after scoring an unbeaten century of 162 off 76 balls against Arunachal Pradesh at the Barsapar Stadium in Guwahati on 15 April 2022. Kiron was named in the Indian women’s cricket team squad for the september 2022, T20 International series against England, after playing impressive innings in all the matches.
