Dahani wanted to become a cricketer since childhood but his father was against playing cricket, he did not want Shahnawaz to make cricket his career. Dahani’s father wanted to make him a government officer, so Dahani completed his studies before pursuing a career in cricket and obtained a B.Com degree.
After that Shahnawaz got his admission in the cricket academy and focused on cricket. Dahani started his cricket with domestic cricket. On 25 November 2019, He made his first class debut for Sindh Cricket team in the 2019–20 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. Dahani had performed very well in domestic cricket, after which he got a chance to play in the Pakistan National Cricket Team.
On 22 November 2021, Dahani made his T20 International Debut for Pakistan team against Bangladesh national cricket team. On 12 June 2022, He made his Oneday International debut for pakistan West Indies. From 23 February 2021 Shahnawaz Dahani remains a part of Pakistan Super League for Multan Sultans. In July 2022, H e was signed by the Jaffna Kings for the Third Adition of Lanka Premier league.
