At the age of 17, Sophie Eccleston made her debut for the England cricket team in the Women’s T20 International on 3 July 2017 during Pakistan’s tour of England.
In September 2016, Sophie was named in the England squad to tour the West Indies in the Women’s One Day International series and made her ODI debut. On 9 November 2017, Sophie Ecclestone made her Test debut for the England team against the women’s Australia cricket team in the Women’s Ashes. In 2018, Sophie was named in the England women’s cricket team squad for the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 tournament against the West Indies in 2018 and was considered one of the players to watch in that series.
In 2019, Sophie was awarded a full central contract by the England and Wales Cricket Board. In January 2020, Sophie Ecclestone was included in the squad for the England cricket team for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia. In that series, Sophie took her 5OTH wicket IN WT20 and 100th wicket in international cricket. Sophie became the youngest woman to take 50 wickets in a Women’s T20 International match and achieved this in only 34 matches. Sophie became the world’s number one bowler in women’s T20 International matches.
