Craig Ervine, who represents Zimbabwe as Captain in limited overs matches, was born on 19 August 1985 in Zimbabwe. Ervin plays cricket with his left hand. Ervine was born in Harare and has played first-class cricket in the Logan Cup of the Cricket League as well as Test and limited overs cricket for Zimbabwe for a number of Zimbabwean teams. Craig Ervine is a residence of Ireland. Irvine played his 100th ODI in the opening match of the series against Sri Lanka in the month of January 2022.
In Castle Bowl competition, Ervine’s father Rory and uncle Neil both take part in first-class cricket for Rhodesia B in the year 1977 – 1978. Another uncle, Gordon Dane, featured for both Rhodesia and Eastern Province in the 1960s. Dane’s father and Erwin’s great-grandfather, Alexander Dane, is believed to have played a match for Rhodesia in 1936 against the visiting Australian national team. His grandparents, who would even pay 50 cents to a wicket-taker, encouraged him to play cricket. Ervine and his brothers Sean and Ryan were born in Harare and raised on farm that is outside of Harare
Ervine’s brother, Sean Ervine, also played for Zimbabwe and, after leaving the country in 2004, went on to have a prosperous English county cricket career with Hampshire. Ryan’s other brother, Ryan, took part in Zimbabwe’s 2009–10 domestic limited overs cricket season.
After a incident in which he tripped and fell on broken glass in his family’s living room, Ervin nearly had to have one of his hands amputated when he was a teenager. At home, he tripped over some fallen penlight batteries. His mother, who had been a nurse during the war, intervened to stop her son’s heavy bleeding. The injury to his right hand required a three-hour operation at that time.

Ervine also took part in the Wallace Park Club, in the year 2009 and 2010. Ervine has played most of his domestic cricket in Zimbabwe, for the Midlands.
