Nicholas Pooran was born on 2 October 1995 in Trinidad and Tobago, Caribbean. Nicholas had a great passion for playing sports since his childhood, he liked cricket more than all the other sports. Pooran started playing cricket during his school days. Nicolas has played many matches for his school team and made big records. Seeing the cricket skills, Nicholas’s family got him enrolled in the Cricket Academy, where he further improved his batting skills And also paid a lot of attention to wicket keeping.
Pooran represented Trinidad and Tobago at various under age and school boys tournaments. At the age of 16 He was selected for the Under 19 National team at the 2012 regional tournament. After that He made his debut for West Indies Under 19s in October 2013 against Bangadesh Under 19s team in a bilateral series. After that he played for Under 19s world cup 2014 as a Vice Captain and He scored 303 runs from six matches as a vice captain.
Played brilliantly with his bat in domestic cricket and make big records after that He got chance to play for West Indies national team. Nicholas pooran made his T20 International debut for West Indies On 23 September 2016 against Pakistan team and he played very well in his debut match.
After three years He made his Oneday International (ODI) Debut for West Indies Against Ireland On 20 February 2019. In July 2021 Pooran was named as the vice captain of West Indies’ squad for their home ODI series against Australia. On 3 May 2022, Nicholas was appointed as a captain of West Indies national cricket team for the limited overs format. Nicholas also got chance to play in Indian premier league tournaments.
In February 2017 ipl auction Nicholas was bought by the Mumbai Indian at the base price 30 Lakhs Rs For 20217 indian premier league tournament but he didnot got a chance to play any one match. After that In 2019 Ipl auction He was Bought By the Kings XI Punjab at the price 4.2 crores Rs. for 2019 Indian Premier League.
Pooran has played matches in IPL for Punjab from 2019 to 21 and his record is also very good but in the 2022 IPL auction Sunrisers Hyderabad bought Nicholls for 10.75 crores for 2022 Indian Premier League . In 2023 IPL auction Nicholls was bought by Lochnow Super Giants for 16 Crores Rs. in 2023 Premier League and he is performing very well this season as well.
