Sushma Verma is an Indian Cricketer who plays for India Women’s National Cricket Team as a wicket keeper and right handed Batsman. Sushma has played for India in the final match of the Women’s Cricket World Cup 2017. Shushma Verma was born on 3 November 1992 in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. Although Sushma’s father wanted her to stay with him and complete her studies. Sushma did her schooling from Portmore Government Model School by Shilma which was away from her home.
Sushma used to belong to the family of teachers, her grandfather was a teacher, her father was also a retired teacher. She had a lot of interest in sports since childhood, she plays many sports like volleyball, handball, badminton cricket. Seeing her curiosity towards sports, Sushma’s father thought of making cricket her career and he enrolled her in a cricket academy to polish her skills.
Sushma Verma has represented Himachal Pradesh Women’s Cricket Team, Railway Women’s Cricket Team, India Women Green, and also India Blue Team at domestic level. Sushma was the captain of the Himachal Pradesh Women’s Under 19 team which was the final match of the Under 19 All India Women’s Tournament 2011.
In 2022, Sushma Verma was selected to play zonal cricket from North Zone during the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, in that series Sushma was the third highest run scorer with 237 runs in 7 innings. Sushma Verma made her international debut on 5 April 2013 against Bangladesh Women in Vadodara Gujarat and became the first woman cricketer from Himachal Pradesh to represent India in international cricket.
16 November 2014, Sushma got a chance to debut in the India women’s team in an International Test match against the West Indies in Mysore.Sushma Verma made her ODI debut on 24 November 2014 against South Africa at Bangalore. In 2019, Sushma became the second highest run scorer at the domestic level in the senior T20 competition. In the same year, Sushma was included in the Indian squad for the West Indies tour. Sushma Verma has been bought in the Women’s Premier League 2023 auction by Gujarat Giants for 60 lakhs.
